ENTRY 2

For this entry I would like to share about the new topic that I'd learn in class which is known as CALL. There are many types of CALL programmes, the most familiar program is the CD-ROM where it is usually being use in the primary school. The teachers tend to use the CD-ROM as one of the materials during the class session to make the students more interested to learn and pay more attention. As a student, this program helps me a lot to finish up my task as it is the easier one compared to the rest. Moreover, I do not have to use the internet to do my work and I can do it any time. For me, the one that I'm always use is the Microsoft Powerpoint. The spreadsheet and excel are also the examples of this program. Next is computer mediated communication (CMC) program. This program tends to use the social media as the medium to communicate such as email and discussion forum. The progression of CALL are divided by three, the first one is behaviouristic call. This programme instruction involved repitative drill and also practice. The aim is to transfer textbooks and worksheet to computer based application. Through this program, the students can be independently learn something because it is provide immediate feedback and the repitition itself is a beneficial for learning session. Next is communication call which is focus more on language rather than grammar. Moreover, the students can generate their own original utterances. The advantages of this communication are the programs often cheap and widely available, the involvement of the students also high and it's makes the learning fun. Third is integrated call. This program adapt the real-world materials into CALL. It becomes popular with the developmetn of highspeed internet and widely hypermedia. Other than that, the large amount of authentic media can be used as meterial in CD-ROMS.
